Tenor Kirk Dougherty performed most recently with Tri-Cities Opera of Binghamton, NY, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, North Shore Music Festival, Opéra Louisiane, and with the New York City Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. He also performs in opera, operetta and concert with organizations such as Salt Marsh Opera, Greenwich Choral Society, Manhattan Concert Productions, Loon Opera, The Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea, Bronx Opera, Mercury Opera Rochester, Central City Opera, Opera Saratoga, Helena Symphony, Missouri Civic Orchestra, Rochester Bach Festival, Cortland Choral Arts Union, and the Delaware Valley Opera, among many others.
Recent performances included Hoffmann (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Alfredo (La Traviata), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Nemorino (L'Elisir d'Amore), and Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte) with Tri-Cities Opera. He returned in 2011-12 as TCO Guest Artist as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor). At Opéra Louisiane, he sang the title role in Gounod’s Faust. At Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, he sang Boyar (Boris Godunov) and covered Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni).
Upcoming performances include the role of Pinkerton at Loon Opera, Tamino in Salt Marsh Opera’s The Magic Flute, and Don José in Duluth Festival Opera’s production of La tragédie de Carmen. He will also sing in the Teatro Grattacielo’s concert performance of Montemezzi’s opera, La Nave, and in Anchorage Opera’s performance of Victoria Bond’s new opera, Mrs. President.
Professional training includes resident artist programs, summer programs, and festivals. He was recently a Festival Artist at Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre in Logan, Utah. As Resident Artist at Tri-Cities Opera, he was the recipient of the TCO’s Carlotta Savoca Memorial Award for the 2009-2010 season. He was also a principal artist at Oberlin in Italy, an apprentice artist at Central City Opera, and a singer at the Franz Schubert Institut in Baden-bei-Wien, Austria.
